Swiping out Lane Johnson’s jersey outlier contract — he was paid as a future left tackle — the top of the right tackle market is Green Bay Packers’ Bryan Bulaga at $6.75 million per year. Last offseason the Chiefs signed Mitchell Schwartz jersey to a five-year, $33 million contract, which averages $6.6 million per season.
The former fifth-round pick played exceedingly well in 2016, particularly as a pass blocker on the right side, after struggling in 2015. Since taking over the starting gig in his second season, the 27-year-old has missed just two games. Pro Football Focus ranked Wagner its 18th overall tackle (both left and right side) in 2016.
“He said it’s crazy, don’t be surprised how much they have you doing and just be yourself. You don’t really have free time here and just enjoy the process,” Watt said Saturday. “You don’t get much sleep. It does get tiring, but you can’t get lazy and create an attitude because everyone here is going through the same situation. I bounced ideas off of J.J. for this experience.”
If, for example, the Broncos and cheap jerseys and Texans have competing interest in Romo’s services, would one of those teams be willing to surrender a draft pick once the quarterback dominoes start to fall later this week?
As Rapoport pointed out, there’s no bonus in Romo’s contract to establish an artificial deadline. The Cowboys’ salary cap is a non-factor at this point.
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said Tuesday that McCloughan’s future with the team is very much in doubt, just two years after McCloughan arrived with outstanding bona fides to bring some stability to the front office. The news highlights what promises to be a frenetic offseason of change in Washington. DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon are expected to leave via free agency. Kirk Cousins may well still be traded to San Francisco. The Redskins have as much at stake as any team in football over the next few weeks and it appears McCloughan won’t be involved.
The Temple linebacker clocked an official time of 4.52 seconds in the 40-yard dash in his first attempt on Sunday, a sterling time for a versatile linebacker who could perform in a variety of roles and schemes. As a draft projection, NFL.com analyst Chad Reuter believes Reddick is climbing toward the middle of the first round, and compared his combine numbers to Lawrence Timmons’. The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker checked into the 2007 combine at 6-foot-0 7/8, 234 pounds, and ran a 4.7 40-yard dash. Reddick measured 6-1 1/2 and 237 pounds, with a far better 40 clocking.
Vastly underpaid on the heels of a “flat-out incredible” 2015 Pro Bowl campaign, Hopkins staged a one-day holdout to express his dissatisfaction at the opening of training camp last summer.
Although Hopkins generated an anemic 55.1 passer rating on 151 targets last season, coach Bill O’Brien intimated that the responsibility for that poor production lies with the subpar passing performance of Brock Osweiler.
The bottom line: There’s no timetable to trade or release Romo. Don’t be surprised if he’s still in Dallas by the time the smoke clears at the end of the week.
